The United States of America is a vast country with a variety of landscapes, so you’re sure to find a place to suit you no matter what you want to do. June is a wonderful time to visit the US because many places have warm, pleasant weather, though it can be hot in some areas like the south, from Southern California across Texas to South Carolina. In the mountainous areas, such as the Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountains, and Appalachia, prepare for warm afternoons and chilly evenings.

If you’re looking for big-city vibes, visit New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, or Dallas. If you’re interested in American history and culture, visit Washington DC, Boston, MA, or Philadelphia, PA for amazing museums and historic places. For a nice beach vacation, you have tons of options. Visit East Coast beaches like Outer Banks, NC, Cape Cod, MA, or Tybee Island, GA. Mexico

In addition to beaches, though, there are tons to see and do around the Yucatan, from exploring any of the 6,000 cenotes in the area and eating local Yucatanian food, like salbutes or panuchos, to joining any of the incredible Chichen Itza tours so that you can see North America’s only Wonder of the World and learn about this ancient Mayan city for yourself!

If you prefer cooler weather, head to any of the stunning cities in the mountains of Central Mexico. For example, Mexico City is known for its world-class food scene and colonial architecture. Enjoy the moderate weather while you’re floating along the canals of Xochimilco in colorful boats and at night, when it gets cooler, head to a lucha libre match, where you can see masked wrestlers duke it out amongst a jeering crowd. Alternatively, the charming town of San Miguel de Allende, a favorite with travelers, hosts Día de los Loco every June, where the city’s cobblestone streets are filled with revelers wearing colorful and elaborate costumes.

Belize

If you’re looking for somewhere to travel in June, you must consider Belize as a great destination to visit! While the rainy season in Belize runs from June through December, the rain is much less intense in June than it is in later months, making it a perfect month to travel to this country! Traveling at the beginning of the rainy season means that you’ll experience less crowds and fewer tourists than you would if you were traveling in peak season. That means more peaceful attractions, as well as lower prices!

Belize has so many beautiful natural attractions like beautiful beaches, jungles, and waterfalls that you will want to explore while you’re there! There are over 12 Mayan cultural sites in Belize, and you can explore cave tubes or go zip-lining through the lush rainforest! The rain also means that it is the perfect time to enjoy water sports like kayaking or river tubing! June is an excellent time for wildlife lovers. Belize has a variety of habitats including wetlands, jungles, and savannahs. The variety of habitats means that Belize is home to over 600 species of birds as well as jungle animals like monkeys and jaguars. One of the main attractions in Belize is SCUBA diving in the region because the second-largest reef system in the world sits just off the coast. The diving in Belize is excellent year-round, but June also marks the end of the whale shark migration to the waters which divers from all over the world strive to see!

June is also the month that one of the largest cultural events and festivals occurs in Belize- called Lobster Fest! Lobsterfest is a festival celebrated in many of the coastal towns throughout Belize and marks the beginning of the official Lobster season. This means that there are so many Lobsters available that prices for the lobster drop! The largest Lobsterfest celebration happens in the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. There, Lobsterfest is a weeklong celebration with outdoor food, beautify pageants, concerts and of course beach parties! Lobsterfest is an ideal time to visit the area! St-Kitts and Nevis

If you are looking for a hidden gem vacation, then St Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean is one of the best countries to visit in June. St Kitts and Nevis are a tiny twin island nation in the Caribbean and despite being the smallest country in the Americas there are lots of great tourist attractions and activities. In June St Kitts holds the annual music festival which features big-name artists from around the world, previously this has included Beyonce and Jay-Z who famously got arrested for swearing on stage!

The music festival brings people from all around the world to celebrate music from genres like Afro-beat, Soca and R&B. Due to the heat in the day, the St Kitts Music Festival takes place at night over 4 days, doors open at 7 pm and the headliners usually start around 3 am.

June in St Kitts and Nevis is also the start of mango season with the islands having 42 different varieties of mangoes. The last weekend in June is when the annual Mango Festival is held on Nevis. Mango Festival sees celebrity and local chefs coming together to create delicious recipes using the local fruit and visitors can enjoy sampling the various dishes created and try their hand at cooking classes.

With two great festivals to choose from, June is the perfect time to visit and experience some of the best things to do on St Kitts and Nevis. The weather in June is also not too hot but it is the start of hurricane season so often there are short periods of rainfall.

Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is a great country to visit in June as the low season has started, prices have decreased but the weather is still stable enough with a lot of sunshine and a perfect Caribbean climate. Usually, the high season in the Dominican Republic is between Christmas and Easter Holidays, as those are the months with the least rain and the most stable weather. Plus, it is the time when Europeans and North Americans want to escape from their winter to the Caribbean.

This is also reflected price-wise. Prices from Christmas to April are the highest, particularly for the most popular tourist destination in the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana’s all-inclusive resorts charge easily 50% more compared to the rest of the year.

Therefore, June is a perfect month to visit the Dominican Republic. You can save considerably, but still enjoy great weather, as June hardly sees any severe rain, just some short occasional showers. You will have a lot of sunshine, probably every day for several hours. And even though June officially marks the start of the hurricane season, chances are extremely low (close to non-existent), as the majority of hurricanes form in September and October.

In terms of events in June in the Dominican Republic, the Baní mango festival is the most important happening. It is held from the 7th to the 11th of June 2023, around 1 hour west of Santo Domingo in the provincial capital Baní, and presents everything about mangos. Even though it is mainly targeted at the local market (hence not touristy at all), for visitors it is crazy to see the sheer amount and variety of mangos in the Dominican Republic – and the prices are crazy as well. Usually, you can get a bag full of large, delicious and sweet mangos for around 1 USD, so come prepared with an empty stomach. Baní can be perfectly combined with a road trip in the Dominican Republic, either when going to the Cordillera Central or on the way to the Southwest of the country.

Colombia

Sizzling sun, salsa, coffee, coconuts and cacao are just some of the things Colombia is famous for, and in June, depending on where you go, you can expect to experience warm and dry weather on most days. It is in Colombia where you can find everything from arid desert terrain to lush green mountain ranges, rivers and resorts where you can escape to one of the many thermal springs dotted around the country. Before booking your trip, it is worth bearing in mind that the best time to visit Colombia depends on which region you visit because the weather varies depending on the altitude and topography. Still, if you can get anywhere near the Caribbean Sea which can be easily accessed via cities such as Cartagena, you will not be disappointed with the weather in June. With average highs of 31°C and lows of just 27 degrees Celcius, it is in Cartagena where you can connect with some of the most favorable weather mixed with many tourist attractions and things to do. While in Cartagena, you can explore the historic walled city, visit the Castle San Felipe de Barajas, or try some of the best street food in the neighborhood of Getsemani. You also have the option to venture out to Playa Blanca and spend a day lounging on the long stretch of white sand. If you’re feeling adventurous, from Cartagena, you can also head over to Santa Marta to visit Parque Tayrona which is a large protected ecological area that covers the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Home to indigenous tribes such as the Kogi, this Colombian ecotourism park offers a host of outdoor activities for travelers looking to connect with nature. You can visit by bus (around 6 hours in transit) and stay inside the park for the evening, or, visit as part of a private tour.

Peru

If you have always wanted to visit Peru and explore Machu Picchu, which you can find in Cusco, the capital of the old Inca empire, June is a great time to do it.

Whether you choose to hike the Inca trail to Machu Picchu or just want to have nice weather to walk around the surrounding Sacred Valley, in June you will have the perfect weather: the rainy season will be over. Forget the uncomfortable poncho and enjoy beautiful sunny days.

Besides Machu Picchu, there's so much to do in the area that your Cusco itinerary will be full of interesting activities: hiking in the Rainbow Mountain, exploring lots of ancient ruins, walking around the pink salt mines, visiting traditional markets, and more.

Moreover, if you visit Cusco during June, you will be able to attend the Inti Raymi, a festival that takes place during the winter solstice. This festival is dedicated to the Sun god and has its origin in the times of the Incas. It celebrates the rebirth of the Sun and the beginning of a new cycle. The contemporary ceremony is a unique experience, which is a representation of the Inca times and attracts thousands of visitors every year.

If you choose to attend the Inti Raymi in the old Sacsayhuaman fortress, make sure to get your tickets in advance. Otherwise, there are two other areas where you can see the ceremony for free, but get there early to catch a good spot!

If you want to visit other areas in Peru, like the Amazon rainforest, June is also the perfect time since it's the beginning of the dry season. Less rain means there will be trekking paths that were previously flooded. Though the weather is hotter, it also means that there will be fewer mosquitoes!

Argentina

The country of Argentina is easily one of the most beautiful places in South America, and June is a great time to visit. This is a winter month for Argentina, so it's generally considered to be the low season, but the temperatures are relatively mild and crowds are a lot thinner compared to the busier seasons of the year, which can be great.

For starters, June is a great month to visit the Argentine capital city of Buenos Aires, and daytime temperatures at this time hover around a comfortable 15 Celsius (60 Fahrenheit). You can also visit scenic places like Salta, or the Andes Ski Resorts in Patagonia if you're a fan of skiing. Normally in the summer, you may have to contend with uncomfortable heat in places like Salta and Iguazu, but in June this is not an issue at all!

The waterfall at Iguazu Falls (in northern Argentina) is by far one of the most impressive sights in South America, and with more than 275 individual cascades, Iguazu is actually the biggest waterfall system in the world! June is a great month to visit Iguazu because it's not as crowded as normal, and hotel prices are better than ever.

The rain and heat are also much more manageable at Iguazu in June compared to Argentina's summer months, when it's more humid and rainy. June is typically dry and sunny at Iguazu, with high temperatures of only about 21 Celsius (70 Fahrenheit).

Last, but not least, there are several festivals in Argentina to enjoy in June, including the 'Fiesta de la Noche Mas Larga' (the longest night of the year), which is celebrated in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, with about 10 days worth of music and shows. Overall, June is one of the best months to visit this beautiful South American country!

Malawi

If you want to go on a safari holiday in June but think Africa is too hot, try Malawi. Not only does Malawi have great weather in June (daytime highs of 25C and overnight lows of 14C), it hasn't been touched by mass tourism yet.

Malawi has ten national parks and is home to 170 species of mammals, including the big five (rhino, leopard, lion, elephant and buffalo), and 650 species of birds. And the best part - Malawi doesn't get the crowds.

Nkhotakota Game Reserve is 1802 km and has over 500 elephants. Besides jeep safaris, visitors can take walking and boat safaris on the Bua River. It's an unforgettable experience to see elephants bathing and playing at the riverside from a boat, where you can view them full on.

Liwonde National Park is probably the best-known national park in Malawi. It's a beautiful park, and full of wildlife, including the big 5. Besides jeep safaris, I had some amazing boat safaris with lots of hippo sightings and herds of elephants at the riverside. This is where I discovered hippos are nocturnal and quite noisy eaters.

Even though Malawi is a landlocked country, it has plenty of beaches and water activities because of the massive Lake Malawi, the ninth-largest freshwater lake on Earth. Popular activities are snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking and hiking in the coastal hills. Lake Malawi National Park (UNESCO), the world's first freshwater national park, is located at the southern end of the lake, near Cape Maclear. This area is popular with holidaymakers but there are plenty of quiet spots too.

Other things to do in Malawi are hiking on the Zomba Plateau (the town of Zomba was once the British hub of Central Africa), exploring the capital, Lilongwe, and visiting the UNESCO Chongoni Rock Art Area which has rock art from the Late Stone Age.

Malawi has a lot to offer and is incredibly scenic. While it's not top of the list for African safari trips, it does have all the animals in pristine parklands, without the crowds.

Cape Verde

One of the best countries to visit in June is the island nation of Cape Verde, also known as Cabo Verde. It is in the central Atlantic Ocean, roughly 385 miles (620 km) off the western coast of Africa. Cape Verde is made up of 10 islands and eight islets. Santiago is the largest of the islands and on it is the city of Praia, Cape Verde’s capital.

June is a great month to visit because the weather is warm and sunny with very little rain. The average temperature is 75°F (24°C). There are also many holidays and events during the month of June. These include local town festivals and national holidays like the Tabanca feast which lasts several days and celebrates the liberation of slaves.

There are a lot of things to do in Praia, as well as in the surrounding area. One of the top attractions is the Dona Maria Pia Lighthouse. Built in 1881, the octagonal lighthouse was recently renovated and there are plans to add a small museum. Praia’s historic center is also popular; it has a pedestrian street named Rue 5 De Julho that has colorful buildings, shops, and restaurants.

While in the historic center, visit the Museu Etnografico Da Praia (Ethnographic Museum of Praia). The museum is small but packed with many great artifacts. And of course, you can visit Quebra Canela, Praia’s most popular beach.

Another city in Santiago that is worth a visit is Cidade Velha or Old Town. This was Cape Verde’s original capital. There you can visit a reconstructed fort that overlooks the city, the ruins of an old cathedral, and the oldest cobbled road in Cape Verde.

To get to Santiago, the best option is by plane. Cape Verde has four international airports, including one in Praia. Most flights have a layover in Lisbon.

South Africa

For a great country to visit in June, head over to South Africa.

June temperatures in South Africa range from about 39°F in Johannesburg and 64°F in Cape Town. It's a little on the cooler side, but it makes for a great time to go on a safari as the weather is perfect for big game animal sightings. June is also the time when travel costs are lower and crowds are smaller. It's the perfect time to visit!

While in South Africa there's no shortage of things to see and do that shouldn't be missed. A safari is a must on any trip to South Africa. While there are numerous safari parks to choose from, the arguably most well-known is Kruger National Park. A safari here is a MUST! Book a lodge outside of the park and plan to spend at least three days going into the park on safari. Start the first day with a guided tour and get a feel for the park and road conditions. It's also great to have a guide there to help point out animals and provide interesting information. On the second day, do a self-drive. Yes. You can drive yourself around the park and see animals without booking a tour. On the third day, choose to either do another guided tour or self-drive; whichever one you enjoyed more.

Cape Town is another place that shouldn't be missed in South Africa. Take the cable car (or hike if you dare) to the top of Table Mountain to enjoy the aerial view of the city below. Spend a day touring Robben Island which is the prison where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison, and visit the famous colored houses in the neighborhood of Bo-Kaap.

There's no shortage of places to visit and things to experience in South Africa, and June is the perfect time to do it. Enjoy your trip!

June is a wonderful time to visit Norway as temperatures are mild and you can enjoy the midnight sun! Because of the amazing weather, June is one of the most popular times to visit Norway, which also means that it can get crowded in some areas. But don’t worry; you’ll find plenty of places to explore inland and on the northern coastline to get away from the crowds and breathe in the fresh air.

A trip to Norway should include a stop in the hip capital of Oslo with its variety of restaurants, shops, and a cool nightlife scene. Explore some of the popular sites such as Akershus Fortress, the Fram Museum, and Frogner Park. Then head out of town to explore some of the charming villages in the south, such as Lillesand, Grimstad, and Risor. The cities of Tromso and Bergen are well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Norway boasts tens of thousands of miles of coastline, so naturally, one of the best things to do is explore the marvelous beaches, fjords, islands, and inlets. Some fantastic beaches include Sola, Haukland, and Hoddevik beaches. Don’t miss out on cruising the gorgeous, vibrantly-colored fjords such as Geirangerfjord, Lysefjord, and Hardangerfjord. There’s also tons of excellent hiking throughout the country, with some of the best hikes including Trolltunga, Pulpit Rock, and Segla. June is the start of the busy season but is way less crowded than July and August. This makes it the perfect month to book your vacation, as you can expect all the attractions will be open with less of a summer crowd. One of the best countries to visit in June is Italy. Italy is incredible to visit all year round, but June is definitely one of the best months. The weather is perfect, as good as in the most popular months of July and August, but you have the added bonus of avoiding the huge flocks of crowds that visit Italy in those 2 months.

When visiting Italy, you want to be able to enjoy your time in the country. There are so many things to see and do, experiences that will create memories to last a lifetime. Whether you are taking a tour of the Colosseum, walking through the streets of Pompeii, or relaxing by the beach along the Amalfi coast, you want to be able to enjoy it. And sometimes crowds can get in the way of this. Visiting in June bypasses this problem.

And as said above, you don't even need to make a compromise with the weather. In June, the average daily maximum temperature (throughout the whole of Italy) is 21°C / 70°F, so it's pretty warm. This is great, as Italy is a country best enjoyed in the sunshine. Who wants to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa when it's raining, right?

June also makes for a great time to visit Italy for culture. On the 2nd of June, it's Republic Day in Italy where everyone celebrates the Republic of Italy. And on the 29th of June, it's La Festa di San Pietro e Paolo. Or in English, the Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul. These names might ring a bell if you visit the Vatican during your trip!

The early summer month of June is the perfect time of year to visit England, as the sun is shining, the country is in bloom with spring flowers, and the peak-season crowds have yet to arrive. The early summer
weather is gorgeous, and even when it rains the temperatures remain warm.

The Queen Elizabeth’s birthday is in June, and the capital city of England is usually very festive this time of year (June 2, in fact, remains a bank holiday.) London in June also features the Taste of London, a large food festival. Taste of London is a 5-day event held every year at Regent’s Park, where the top restaurants showcase their specialties. In addition to nearly 40 restaurants and bars on display, you can attend cooking demonstrations and classes, browse artisan markets, and enjoy live entertainment at the piano bar, or dance the night away to a DJ.

London is easy to get around via the tube, but it is very walkable, too, and the nice weather provides a lovely excuse to be outside. Some of the city’s most popular landmarks worth a visit in June include the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square and the many wonderful museums in London.

If you are looking for a fun summer getaway in June, Gibraltar is a fantastic option. Located at the very bottom of the Spanish Peninsula and close to Africa, it’s a fascinating place to visit.

This British Territory country isn’t very big, making it easy to explore on weekends, but it offers great activities for all ages. One of the most popular things to do in Gibraltar is to visit the Rock of Gibraltar, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the country, Spain and the African continent.

You can also explore the Upper Nature Reserve within the Rock of Gibraltar. Here you can see the cheeky Barbary Macaques (monkeys), visit St Michael’s Cave and walk on the suspension bridge. It is a beautiful place to spend a few good hours discovering, but be aware of your belongings as some monkeys will try to get them, especially if you have food. Gibraltar is also known as a shopping destination. It’s a tax-free zone, so you can buy items for better prices. Go to Main Street for a shopping afternoon. You will find popular British high street shops.

In general, June is an excellent time to visit Gibraltar because you have the opportunity to do all sorts of activities. Plus, if you love music festivals, some occur during this month. The highest temperature is 26° (78.8°F), and the lowest is 18° (64.4°F), so with these temperatures, you can make the most of summer activities. The most visited city in Bosnia and Herzegovina is its capital, Sarajevo, a multicultural city with a rich history. There are so many things to do in Sarajevo. To name just two examples, you can visit the place where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot, which started the First World War, and you can walk down an abandoned bobsleigh track covered in graffiti. Sarajevo is also a perfect starting point to explore the country further.

On a day trip from Sarajevo to Mostar you get to see some of the most stunning countryside from Bosnia and Herzegovina, like the Kravica Waterfalls or Blagaj. At Blagaj you can admire a historic Dervish monastery next to the underground spring of the Buna River. Kravica Waterfalls is one of the most stunning waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina and you can even go for a swim at the base of the waterfall.

Japan

While people flock to Japan for the Sakura (cherry blossom) season, skip the crowds and visit Japan in June.

Did you know that Japan is the birthplace of hydrangeas? Hydrangeas (“Ajisai” in Japanese) bloom from early June to mid-July. This is the visual cue that the rainy season is on its way. In Japan, they usually grow in and around temples & shrines grounds, gardens, parks, and riverbanks. Less than an hour's train ride from Tokyo is the city of Kamakura. Kamakura is known as the “Kyoto of Eastern Japan,” with many temples and shrines to visit. The location of Kamakura is an ideal day trip location from Tokyo, and worth putting on your travel itinerary.

Meigetsu-in Temple in Kamakura is also called the “Temple of Hydrangeas” and you will quickly see why. When the flowers are at their peak in mid-June, the temple becomes crowded with visitors from near and far. 95% of the hydrangeas here are of the Hime Ajisai ("Princess Hydrangea") variety, which is colored blue. Don’t be surprised to see someone in a kimono or a yukata enjoying the beauty of these flowers.

Another temple in Kamakura to visit is Hasadera Temple. The narrow path is called “Prospect Road” and you are surrounded by so many varieties of this summer plant. You can photograph these flowers with Enoshima or Zushi Beach in the background. This is quite a popular location for tourists and locals alike.

At Hasadera Temple, visitors and worshippers alike can purchase a Japanese praying plaque (Ema) with Hydrangea flowers on the design. Emas are wooden tablets that you can purchase. People can write their wishes or appreciation and hang them on display at the shrine. Others like to purchase the ema as a memento of their visit.

South Korea is a popular destination with a rich history and culture. Not to mention its capital city, Seoul, is a dynamic and hip metropolis with so many things to offer – it always has something for any type of traveler.

June is a great month to visit Seoul because it is right before the summer peak seasons, and it’s much warmer than winter to explore different places on foot. Explore the many hidden gems and trendy neighborhoods in Seoul, dive into the city’s famous coffee culture, enjoy art in a gallery, and shop in the many boutique and designer stores.

For adventurous visitors, the city celebrates the beginning of the summer with a lot of active and fun festivals. At Seodong Park and Gungnamji Pond, take pictures of the lotus blossoming in the Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival. Enjoy the cooling breeze on a scenic Han River Cruise, or a party boat at night. Cool down by swimming in one of the public pools along the Han River. The Water Bomb Festival takes place in June and it’s one of the best water festivals with dance music in Asia.

For traditional events, sit back and watch a folk performance at the Ganeung City. The city showcases a number of cultural events like the shamanistic ritual in their shows.

There is also a vibrant food scene in Korea, from kimchi, and barbecue to seafood. Many fans of Korean TV Soap operas will understand that Chimaek (chicken and beer) has a special place in the local food culture. The Incheon Chimaek (Chicken & Beer) Party is the perfect occasion for food lovers because the event features various vendors with a lot of delicious fried chicken and beer.

Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan has cold winters and hot summers. Therefore, June is one of the best months to visit Uzbekistan. This is when the weather is dry and pleasant with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C in most parts of the country.

With warm and sunny weather, June is a great time to explore Uzbekistan's stunning natural landscapes. You can go horseback riding in the Kyzylkum Desert, visit the Charvak Reservoir for some water sports or take a hike in the beautiful Chimgan Mountains. The mountains offer spectacular views and plenty of opportunities for hiking and outdoor activities.

Uzbekistan is also home to many historical sites and landmarks, including the ancient cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva where you can see some fine examples of Islamic architecture. Uzbekistan was an important stop on the ancient Silk Road, which was a major trade route between China and the Mediterranean. June is a good time to visit these sites, as you can explore the monuments and museums without feeling too hot or cold.

Uzbekistan has several festivals and events that take place in June, including the Silk and Spices Festival in Bukhara, which celebrates the country's history as a key trading center on the ancient Silk Road. The festival features traditional music and dance. It is a great opportunity to experience Uzbek culture including its delicious cuisine.

Of all of the countries in Central Asia, Uzbekistan has the best food. You can try plov (a rice dish), shashlik (grilled meat), and various types of bread and pastries, which are all popular throughout the country.

Tajikistan

If you’re looking for an adventurous country in June, you should consider travelling to Tajikistan. Most people come here to go on a road trip along the Pamir Highway, which is the second-highest highway in the world. Along the road, you can explore alpine lakes, go hiking, and stay with locals in remote guest houses.

Plus, the road itself is incredibly scenic. It runs along the Pamir Mountains and even provides views of Afghanistan, as the road runs along the Afghan border for several hundred kilometres.

Due to the altitude, some parts of Tajikistan get incredibly cold during winter, which is why the summer months from June to August are the best months to visit. During this time, it can still be a bit chilly in the mountains, but the towns at a lower altitude (like the capital Dushanbe) are blessed with hot summer weather.

If you don't want to go on a road trip, you can also go hiking in the Fann Mountains, where you can visit the famous Seven Lakes or the Iskanderkul Lake – the largest lake in the country.

Bali is a beautiful island located in Indonesia which is very popular with tourists from around the world. Expect lots of sunshine in June and as it is not quite high season yet, there will be fewer tourists. June really is the perfect time to visit because it is the beginning of the dry season. During this time of year, temperatures can range from a low of 23°C (73°F) to a high of 32°C (90°F). In addition to the warm and dry weather, June is a great time to visit Bali as there is very little rainfall. Although you might still experience some light showers, these will occur mainly during the evening.

June is also the beginning of the windy season in Bali and the Balinese fondly refer to it as 'kite season'. As you look to the skies, you will see thousands of brightly coloured kites dancing in the wind. There are a plethora of activities to do in June in Bali, from exploring the island's stunning beaches to enjoying the vibrant nightlife. For those looking for a more relaxed experience, there are plenty of tranquil temples and cultural sites dotted around the island. Some not to be missed are the 'Gates of Heaven' at Lempuyang Temple, Tanah Lot at sunset, and Besakih Temple.

Also, from mid-June to mid-July, the renowned Pesta Kesenian Bali or the Bali Arts Festival takes place in Denpasar. This festival is a dazzling showcase of exhibitions and performances featuring the traditional and unique arts of Bali.

For those seeking adventure, there are a number of water sports and activities such as surfing, whitewater rafting, diving and snorkelling. Hiking is also a popular activity during this time of year, with breathtaking views of iconic rice paddy fields, unspoiled rainforests and local, traditional villages.

We personally love the slower pace of Sanur, but you may prefer to stay in the trendy, upmarket area of Seminyak instead. June is a great time to visit New Zealand! The seasons are opposite to the northern hemisphere which means June is the first month of winter. The summer crowds have gone, cruise ship season has come to an end and the kids are back to school. It is the best time to visit for less crowds and bargain prices. New Zealand is split into the North Island and the South Island, and the landscape and climate are quite different between the two.

Many locations in the North Island such as coastal areas and cities like Auckland and Wellington, experience mild winters with average daily temperatures in June ranging from mid-50 to low-60 degrees Fahrenheit.

One of the best things to do on the North Island in June is to experience the hot pools. Rotorua is a town based in a geothermal area with amazing natural hot pools. The Hell’s Gate mud spa is the ultimate experience going back 800 years!

If cooler temperatures, après parties, skiing, snowboarding and winter festivals light you up then Queenstown, located in the mountains of the South Island, is where you want to be in June. Queenstown in winter has a fun atmosphere, cozy fires, and crisp alpine air. Being the very start of the season, June is the perfect month to experience the winter festivities without the huge crowds and high prices.

Early June is the elusive off-season in Queenstown and you’ll unlikely find better prices for this region than in June. Ski fields officially open from mid-June, although snow can fall as early as April in this part of New Zealand. Winterfest comes to Queenstown in late June, bringing musicians, events, mulled wine, holiday lights and an outdoor skating rink to the area. It’s a winter festival not to be missed.

Australia

June marks the start of winter in Australia, so you’re probably wondering why I’d recommend visiting during the off-season. But hear me out, winter is the ultimate time to visit the northern parts of Australia - particularly the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

In summer, temperatures in these areas exceed 40 degrees Celsius, humidity is high and it’s considered to be the wet season, making it unbearable for travel. In June, the average daily maximum sits at around 30 degrees Celsius and rainfall is low, making it the perfect holiday weather! School holidays in Australia are usually in July, so June is also a great time to avoid the peak crowds.

So where should you go? My favourite destinations in northern parts of Australia are:

Broome: Located right at the top of Western Australia, Broome is a beautiful destination with pristine beaches of the Indian Ocean and a diverse colourful landscape (picture white sand beaches, bright blue water, vivid orange rocks and lush green mangroves). One of the most famous locations in Broome is Cable Beach - rent a chair and umbrella and relax on this expansive beach or take a camel ride at sunset. For the resort lovers, Broome has some excellent options including the popular Cable Beach Resort. If you love adventures, Broome is a great place to rent a 4WD vehicle and explore the amazing cape and surrounds.

Darwin: Located in the Northern Territory, Darwin is a great starting point for a road trip through the stunning Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks. It’s a beautiful coastal city with a vibrant blend of cuisines and rich cultural diversity. The lively waterfront precinct is a great place to stay for your visit. For nature lovers, there are so many beautiful hikes in the Northern Territory, with diverse wildlife, stunning waterfalls and epic swimming holes.

Exmouth: Exmouth is the jewel of Western Australia - it’s located on the stunning Coral Coast and has some of the best beaches in the world. The Ningaloo Reef is arguably more beautiful than the Great Barrier Reef and is much quieter than its counterpart. June is the perfect time to visit if you want to swim with the majestic Whale Sharks, an experience that you need to add to your bucket list! Exmouth is not only about beaches, it’s home to the Cape Range National Park with breathtaking canyons and is an excellent place for hiking.

French Polynesia

For those looking to travel to a destination that is less impacted by mass tourism, one of the best places to visit is French Polynesia! During this time of the year, the islands are in their favorable dry season. This means the islands experience an average high temperature of 80°F, an average low temperature of 67°F, and a lot less rain in comparison to the wet season! With the decrease in rain, it's ideal conditions to explore the island.

For example, guests can embark on all kinds of unforgettable adventures on the big island of Tahiti. One example would be hiking to Fautaua Waterfall, which is the tallest waterfall on the island. Or, if you prefer to spend more time near the water, head to any one of French Polynesia's many striking black beaches!

All this said, one of the biggest reasons to visit French Polynesia would be because the island hosts several events throughout June! For instance, one event that's quite a spectacle is the annual Te Aito and Super Aito event. Over 10 days in June, locals from all over French Polynesia race in their outriggers to compete for the title of champion! Not only is this event a great cultural experience for travelers, but it's also one of the most exciting events that occur during the summer months in Tahiti and Moorea!

Additionally, Tahiti Fashion Week is an event that should not be missed. Taking place over three evenings at the beginning of June, this event celebrates traditional Polynesian fashion, Maohi culture, and natural craftsmanship. Guests have the opportunity to really immerse themselves in the local Tahitian culture and history of the island with this event!

So, if you're keen on escaping reality for a bit and instead taking in the beautiful local French Polynesian culture, definitely consider visiting the islands!
