Clearwater, FL, US
by Candice from Exploring the Gulf
Clearwater is one of the best coastal towns in Florida and is a great place to visit in February. About a two-hour drive outside of Orlando, it’s the perfect beach getaway on its own or as an addition to a theme park vacation!
Clearwater is most known for its powdery white sand and aquamarine waters, which are both sights to see, especially during the frigid winter months. As we all know, once mid to late winter rolls around, everybody is craving sunshine and warmth!
Even in the heart of winter, Clearwater is one of the warmest beaches in Florida in February (). You can expect high temperatures in the mid-60s and lows in the high 50s.
The weather in Clearwater in February isn’t hot, but it’s comfortable. The water, on the other hand, isn’t so comfortable. At an average of 64 °F, February isn’t the month to be enjoying water sports in Clearwater.
Luckily, February is festival season in Clearwater, so you won’t even miss playing in the surf! Instead of killing the days in the waves, spend your time savoring some exceptional seafood and tunes at the St Petersburg Seafood & Music Festival.
And if you’re a jazz fan, you won’t want to miss the SOULJAZZLIVE Music Festival happening in the area in February as well.
Pier 60 is right on Clearwater Beach and is a wonderful place to hang out this time of year. It’s a great place for anglers to visit. They can fish with a view! Sunsets at the pier are spectacular, too!
Snowbirds and other visitors will be around town in February, so the city will still be buzzing, but beaches and attractions won’t be overwhelmed. Clearwater in February is the perfect place to relax, recharge, and catch some rays along the beautiful Gulf Coast.
Psst: don’t forget Tampa & Clearwater as part of your road trip through Florida!
Key West, FL, US
by Candice from Exploring the Gulf
By the time February comes around, everyone is dreaming of a beach getaway. Key West is one of the best beach destinations in February. Given that it’s still winter, the temperatures will be mild, with an average high of 76°F and low of 66°F, which is still significantly higher than most areas of the country at this time of year.
Thanks to near-perfect weather, the island will be crowded. Accommodations will fill up quickly, and it’s one of the most expensive times to visit.
The best thing about Key West in February is the beach! Enjoy the rays and the waves at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park or Smathers Beach. Both are excellent places to relax on the beach or waste away the day snorkeling.
Those who would like to explore a more remote beach should head out to Dry Tortugas National Park. It’s 70 miles off the shore of Key West, but well worth the effort to get there. A ferry or tour transportation is required to reach the park.
Dry Tortugas is home to some of the most striking stretches of beach and beautiful coral reefs around. Visitors can also check out the historical Fort Jefferson while visiting the park.
Thanks to the beautiful weather, February is also a lovely time for fishing and even camping in Key West. Couples looking for a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway flock here to celebrate in such a beautiful setting.
Artists and crafters will be happy to be in town this month for the Key West Art & Craft Festival, as well as the Key West Artisan Market that takes place every other Sunday at Clarence H. Higgs Memorial Beach.
Key West makes for a wonderful beach destination getaway in February. It’s beautiful, exciting, relaxing, and everything in between!
Anna Maria Island, FL, US
By Amanda from Hey! East Coast USA
Take advantage of the fewer crowds at Anna Maria Island (AMI) on Florida's Gulf Coast this February. Visitors can expect temperature highs of 74° with very little rainfall. While this is a little chilly for locals, tourists still spend time on the beaches and at other attractions.
Beautiful AMI is a barrier island comprising three cities: Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, and Anna Maria, and each takes in seven miles of sugary sandy shores. The most popular area is around Bridge Street (Bradenton Beach), where you'll find a collection of bars like the Daiquiri Deck, restaurants such as Anna Maria Oyster Bar, boat tours, and a historic pier. One of the closest beaches to Bridge Street is Cortez Beach, a spot for epic sunsets!
Families also like to pitch up further north on the island at Manatee Beach, as it offers comforts, such as the Anna Maria Island Cafe, restrooms, and entertainment via its volleyball nets. If you don't mind sunbathing without access to restrooms, Bean Point Beach is quite remote and located on the quieter side of AMI but offers views of Passage Key, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, and St Pete. If you prefer to leave the car parked at your rental, hop aboard the free Trolley, which connects the south and north of AMI and has a scheduling planning app.
Look out for Valentine-themed events during February, such as new exhibitions at the Island Gallery West and wine tasting at Mademoiselle Paris, or create your own romantic memories by hiring kayaks and gorging on seafood. Another option is to look out for the winter through to spring farmers markets that pop up weekly all over the island.

Located on the picturesque west coast of Florida, Siesta Key offers breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico. Every evening, bring a picnic or some beverages to the beach, where you'll be mesmerized by the beauty of the sunset sinking into the horizon.
February usually experiences a decline in tourist numbers compared to December and January. The weather is pleasant, particularly if you're arriving from a colder region. In Sarasota, Florida, February boasts an average high of 74°F and an average low of 55°F.
In addition to the natural beauty, Siesta Key and its surrounding area offers a range of family-friendly activities. Miami, FL, US
by Eleanor of Elevate Your Escapes
Miami, Florida is a great beach destination that can be enjoyed year-round. February is an ideal time to visit because of the pleasant, sunny weather and low crowds. January and February are typically the off-season in Miami before visitors ramp up starting for spring break time.
As Miami is not heavily visited during this time, you can expect to find the best deals for your trip. Overall, accommodations can be pricey in Miami, especially over weekends, so it's best to travel in the off-season, especially on a budget. There aren't any major events that take over the city in February either (like the marathon in January, spring break and Miami Music Week in March, Memorial Day madness in May, Art Basel in December, etc.), so you can find peace and relaxation in your visit!
You can also expect to find good flight prices, as February is a low time for travel to this region and it's serviced by two major international airports - Miami International Airport (MIA) and Ft. Lauderdale International Airport (FLL).
During the downtime, it'll also be easier for you to snag reservations to some of the best spots in the city, like Seaspice, Nikki on the River, Villa Azur, and more. Not to mention, you can expect better service and lower wait times with fewer visitors around. And, you won't pay huge covers for nightlife, either.
In February, you can expect highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid-60s. Daytime is usually warm and sunny. Nights can be a bit chilly with the breeze, especially near the water. Bring a light jacket in case the temperature dips! February is also not a month where heavy storms are common (June to October). Though it won't be too hot, sunscreen is still a must, as the Miami sun is strong!
Most visitors go to Miami for the beach, but you can also tour downtown and the Art Deco district, experience the Wynwood Walls, take a boat ride to see celebrity homes or take a day trip to awe at the huge alligators in Everglades National Park.
Psst: If you are looking for a 3-day itinerary to Miami, I got you covered!
Maui, HI, US
by Zach and Julie Ruhl from Ruhls of the Road
Maui, Hawaii is an incredible beach destination to visit in February. From stunning landscapes, beautiful beaches, pleasant weather, and jaw-dropping sunsets, there are so many amazing things to add to your Maui itinerary.
One of the primary reasons February is an ideal time to visit Maui is the favorable weather conditions. Maui’s temperatures range from 60F to 75F, which is most likely nicer than where visitors are coming from. Escape the cold winter temperatures and enjoy the warm sunshine Hawaii offers.
Another reason to visit Maui in February is because it isn’t as crowded as it is during peak season. The best snorkel spots and beaches won’t be packed. Visitors will be able to get parking at hiking trailheads and tours will have availability.
February also hosts one of Maui’s most celebrated events. The annual Whale Festival is a month-long festival dedicated to honoring the humpback whales that migrate to the warm Hawaiian waters during the winter months.
This also means that February is the perfect time to enjoy a whale-watching tour and admire these giant creatures up close. Or visitors can keep an eye on the horizon to see whales breach in the distance.
Lastly, Maui’s trade winds tend to relax in February, making it the perfect time to enjoy watersports and beach days. Enjoy snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing and more.
Overall, Maui is the perfect February destination if visitors are looking for a vacation that offers adventure, relaxation and amazing natural beauty.
Kauai, HI, US
by Trysta founder of This Travel Dream
Kauai, also known as the "Garden Isle," is one of the most beautiful destinations in Hawaii. It is a perfect blend of stunning beaches, lush green mountains, and cascading waterfalls. The island offers a unique tropical experience that makes it an ideal getaway for vacationers from around the world.
While February is technically considered part of the winter season, the weather on Kauai remains warm and sunny year-round. The average temperature in February ranges from the mid-70s to low 80s, making it an excellent choice for a beach holiday.
February is also an ideal time to visit Kauai because it is the off-season. The island is less crowded during this time, giving you ample space to enjoy its beauty. The reduced tourist traffic also means that accommodations, from resorts to vacation rentals, are generally more affordable.
Kauai's beaches are nothing short of paradise. Poipu Beach, Hanalei Bay, and Tunnels Beach are the most popular. The beaches on the southern shore are known for their calm waters, making them ideal for swimming and snorkeling. On the other hand, the beaches on the northern shore offer bigger waves in the winter, making them perfect for surfing.
February is also whale season in Hawaii, and if you're lucky, you can spot these majestic creatures during your beach visits. You can also take a whale-watching tour for a closer look at these gentle giants.
But Kauai is more than just its stunning beaches. The island also boasts some of Hawaii's most breathtaking hiking trails. One of the best things to do on Kauai is hike Waimea Canyon, also known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific."
A trip to Kauai is not complete until you've experienced a traditional Hawaiian luau. These festive celebrations showcase the island's culture through music, dance, and delicious food. It's an excellent way to immerse yourself in the local traditions and have a fun night out.
Big Island, HI, US
by Jess from The Uprooted Traveler
The Big Island of Hawaii is an incredible beach destination in February, thanks to its dry, warm weather and diverse beaches.
Most of the Hawaiian Islands experience wet winters, with gnarly waves, especially on the northern and western sides of the islands. However, the Big Island is the southernmost island in the archipelago and thus, is sheltered from much of this nasty winter weather, making it an ideal spot to soak up the sun. Plus, the Big Island has an incredibly huge array of beaches to choose from.
If you want white sand beaches, head to the beaches around Waikōloa Village, a glitzy resort area on the west side of the island. For example, Mauna Kea Beach is absolutely beautiful, with soft white sand, turquoise water, and swaying palm trees. In February, you might even get lucky and spot some humpback whales off its shores!
Alternatively, the Big Island is home to one of only four green sand beaches on the planet. Papakōlea Beach is located near the southern tip of the island (which also just so happens to be the southernmost point in the entire United States!) and is only accessible via a 5.6-mile hiking trail.
However, many of the beaches on the Big Island consist of dramatic black sand. Perhaps the most iconic one is Punaluʻu Beach, a gorgeous stretch of black sand along the southern shoreline of the island that’s known as a popular hot spot for honu (sea turtles).
While you can swim, kayak, paddle board, or boogie board at many of these beaches, the Big Island is arguably the best of the Hawaiian Islands for snorkeling, thanks to its incredible water clarity, abundant wildlife, and vibrant coral reefs. One of the coolest things to do on the Big Island is actually snorkeling with manta rays in Kona, a popular resort town with visitors—it’s actually one of the only places on the planet where you can snorkel with manta rays year-round.
Puerto Rico
by Tara from Tour Guide Tara
If you're daydreaming about escaping the winter chill and basking in the heat of the sun, look no further than Vieques in February. This hidden gem, just a short boat ride from the east coast of Puerto Rico, isn't just a beach destination; it's a tropical haven that comes alive in the heart of winter.
Imagine powdery sands caressed by gentle waves, a symphony of rustling palms, and an inviting warmth that envelops you. It's the perfect antidote to winter blues. Spend your days bouncing between Vieques beaches like Playa Sun Bay and Playa Caracas. Visitors often rent golf carts to explore areas like Esperanza, where you can enjoy the beach and the nearby restaurants and beach bars.
Vieques is renowned for its captivating bioluminescent bay. The island's Mosquito Bay, one of the brightest bioluminescent bays globally, comes alive as microscopic organisms illuminate the water, creating a mesmerizing glow. Kayak through the bay for an enchanting experience that feels like paddling through a galaxy of stars.
For underwater enthusiasts, Vieques also offers prime snorkeling conditions. The crystal-clear waters reveal a kaleidoscope of marine life, from colorful coral reefs to playful schools of fish. Explore the underwater wonders at Blue Beach. If adventures on land are more up your alley, escape the crowds and discover the serene beauty of Vieques' landscapes. The Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, with its diverse ecosystems and thriving wildlife, invites nature lovers to explore its trails. February provides an optimal balance—lush greenery and comfortable temperatures, creating an idyllic setting for a peaceful retreat.
Among savvy travelers, Vieques has emerged as a winter sanctuary and one of the best beach destinations in February. Savor authentic local cuisine and engage with friendly locals. Snorkel, sunbathe, or navigate the ethereal beauty of its bioluminescent bay.
I wouldn’t describe February as a particularly crowded time to visit the island. But be sure to plan your getaway in advance so that you have your choice of accommodations, transportation, and activities. This is the best way to ensure you have an unforgettable tropical escape.

Jamaica
by Shweta from Zest In A Tote
Who doesn't want to go to a tropical paradise with white sandy beaches when many other places are freezing? That’s Jamaica for you in February.
Weather and crowds: It is warm and dry in Jamaica in February. The average temperature ranges from 25-30 degrees C. It is peak season in Jamaica from mid-December until mid-April, so expect crowds at popular spots and high hotel prices.
What to do in Jamaica: The country has 2 international airports: Montego Bay and Kingston Airport. Your stay in Jamaica will likely be in the north tourist corridor at Negril, Montego Bay or Port Antonio. If you are wondering how many days to spend in Jamaica I would recommend a Jamaica itinerary for 5-7 days on this Caribbean island.
After you settle in at the beach resort of your choice, hit the pool or just the pool bar for a drink. Take a walk on the beach to watch the sunset. To explore the scenic coastline of Jamaica, hire a private boat or take a group cruise.
If you are looking for a different nature activity, a visit to Dunn Falls at Ocho Rios is a good option. Dunn’s River Falls is a popular destination located within a natural park. One fun activity to do is climb the 65-foot-high Dunn’s Falls with a guide.
There are plenty of things to do from relaxing at a beach to water activities, from adventure activities like ATV tours, and horse riding on a beach to hiking in the Blue Mountains, from cultural trips to Kingston to enjoying the delicious jerk chicken and other local food dishes.
Special event in February: Bob Marley Day is celebrated each year on February 6, in honor of the reggae legend’s birthday.
Roatan, Honduras
by Tasha Amy from Backpackers Wanderlust
Roatan is one of the gems of the Bay Islands of Honduras. It provides an incredible beach break for visitors wanting some warmth during the winter month of February. February is the start of the dry season in Roatan and is perfect timing before all the crowds arrive. There may still be a chance of a rain shower, but it’ll provide some relief from the heat which is around 77°F / 29°C. Expect warm weather, moderate humidity, and a good chance of sunshine, ideal for a winter break!
Roatan is surrounded by the second largest barrier reef in the world, making it particularly popular with fans of snorkelling and scuba diving. Learning to dive in Roatan is a great option for any underwater fanatics thanks to the impressive marine life.
For beach lovers, a visit to Camp Bay is a must. One of Roatan’s best-kept secrets this is a relatively undiscovered beach on the north of the island with deserted island vibes. Think swaying palm trees, white sand and clear blue water, it’s one of the best places to spend a day relaxing by the ocean and feel like you’ve truly escaped to paradise.
However, for something less isolated staying in the area of Half Moon Bay is a must. Not only will you be surrounded by some excellent beaches with plenty of swimming and snorkeling opportunities, you will also be near some incredible hotels, restaurants, and cafes providing you with everything you could need! Visit the rocky cliffs on each side of the beach for a spot of snorkeling or just hang in the middle for beautiful stretches of sand.
No doubt a visit to Roatan is a must and is one of the best beach destinations in February. So pack your swimmers, snorkel, a towel, and get ready for paradise!
Belize
by Sally from Sally Sees
Although this is Belize's winter, winter in this Caribbean paradise means dry season, with blue skies and a whole lot of sunshine! Temperatures average around 26 - 28°C (78 - 82°F), with cooler evenings. Mild winds keep the humidity down too. The water is an inviting 26°C (80°F), making this a perfect time for snorkelling and diving, or simply floating in the calm, blue waters of the Caribbean.
The holiday crowds from Christmas and New Years have eased, although February is still considered one of the peak times for travel in Belize, so don't leave booking too late. There are hundreds of islands and miles of coastline to choose from when planning your Belize itinerary.
The two most popular islands are Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye (commonly known by San Pedro, the name of the only town on the island). But it's possible to get off the beaten track and stay at one of the more remote and undeveloped cayes, like Tobacco Caye or Long Caye.
If you'd prefer a beach town on the mainland, Hopkins and Placencia are the best options. You get the benefit of being close to the Belize Barrier Reef, as well as being able to venture inland into Belize's lush jungle on a day trip.
The major event in February is the carnival, celebrated by many countries around Latin America. Occurring in the week before Lent, the island of Ambergris Caye is carnival central in Belize. San Pedro hosts the Carnaval de San Pedro, a three-day festival around the island, with plenty of parades, singing, dancing and dress-ups.
Curacao
Recommended by In Search of Sarah
One of the best beach destinations to visit in February is Curacao. With consistent temperatures throughout the year at an average of 30ºC and minimal rainfall, this Dutch Caribbean island is situated between Aruba and Bonaire off the coast of Venezuela and makes for a perfect beach escape.
Visiting Curacao in February means you’ll be able to take part in the festival season! With plenty of festivals throughout the month, you’ll be able to catch the best music, costumes, and culture!
While February is a popular time to visit Curacao, it never feels busy because of all of the beaches, restaurants, and accommodations it has to offer. While it isn’t a large country (the whole island can be driven tip-to-tip in about an hour!), there are endless things to do in Curacao.
Outdoor lovers will be in paradise in Curacao! Whether it’s exploring one of the island's 40+ amazing beaches, catching the sunrise by hiking Mount Christoffel, discovering the rugged coastline at Shete Boka National Park, snorkelling with sea turtles, exploring caves, or strolling the colourful streets of Willemstad, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
This vibrant island isn’t the place to visit if you’re planning an all-inclusive vacation. The best way to immerse yourself into the island is by staying at self-catering accommodations and enjoying the local cuisine and postcard-perfect beaches.
Curacao is meant to be experienced and enjoyed with its astounding natural beauty, friendly locals, and delicious food. It’s safe, and easy to drive around, and many expats live on this welcoming Caribbean island. February in Curacao is a perfect time to explore off-the-beaten path for a beach destination!
Aruba
by Jeff from Life of Y
With a daily average temperature of 28°C and little chance of rain, it’s no wonder the small island of Aruba is such a popular destination in February. Like other Caribbean destinations, Aruba can count on consistently warm weather year-round making February one of the busier months to visit. But don’t expect to be fighting for space on the beach or that chair by the pool.
February marks the end of any wet weather that may come and temperatures range from 25°C to 31°C meaning it’s one of the cooler months to visit. You can always count on the famous Aruba wind to cool you down if this is too much. Aruba is home to some of the world’s best beaches like Eagle Beach - a consistent winner of the Best Beach in the Word Award! Families can also check out Palm Beach for some fantastic hotel options in Aruba.
The famous south-westerly wind also means excellent conditions for anyone wanting to try their hand at windsurfing or kite surfing at the northern end of the island while the rest of the island is perfect for swimmers and snorkelers.
Most will know of Aruba’s beaches and highlights, but the one thing that makes February such a special time to visit is the arrival of the Caribbean Carnival. Officially starting in November, many of the best events and parades occur in the concluding month of February. Carnival season in Aruba is exactly what you would expect it to be. Extravagant and colourful costumes, wonderfully decorated floats, infectious music and a wonderful party atmosphere suitable for all ages and family members.
While Aruba is an excellent beach destination at any time of year, visiting in February during the carnival season can really add magic to what is already a special destination!
Cuba
by Claudia from My Adventures Across The World
Cuba is a fabulous tourist destination, with a lot to offer to travelers. Here you will find beautiful cities, lush nature and wildlife, complex and unique history, delicious food, and fun music. If you want to add a bit of relaxing time, Cuba won't disappoint either. Indeed, there are some incredible beaches in Cuba.
Cuban beaches can be enjoyed year-round, but are at their best in the Northern Hemisphere winter months. In particular, if you decide to visit Cuba in February the weather will be significantly more pleasant than in the summer months, when it may rain more often (including thunderstorms) and the humidity is higher.
Visiting in February also means avoiding the larger tourist crowds that travel to Cuba during the summer holidays. Beaches are not crowded then -, in some cases, you may well have the beach to yourself. An additional reason to travel in February is that it's much cheaper, and that includes day trips to a particular beach - it will be cheaper to hire a driver for the day, to take part in snorkeling expeditions, and even to rent things such as sun beds and umbrellas.
There are beautiful beaches everywhere in Cuba. Go to Cayo Jutias, about an hour drive from Vinales, to appreciate the long, white sandy beach and the clear waters perfect for snorkeling. Playa Maguana is the best beach near Baracoa, and in February it is blissfully quiet. Playa Ancon, near Trinidad, is another popular beach and can be reached by bike from town too.
Turks and Caicos
by Adrienne from Destinations and Desserts
February is the perfect time of year to visit Turks and Caicos, a tropical archipelago of 40 islands in the Caribbean. The high temperature averages a balmy 82 degrees, it's the driest month, and by traveling in February you'll avoid both the holiday and spring break crowds and the correspondingly high prices they bring.
The largest island in Turks and Caicos, Providenciales, is easy to reach with direct flights to numerous North American cities. From Providenciales, a short ferry ride will take you to the less-developed islands of North Caicos and Middle Caicos.
Whether you're traveling with a multi-generational family group, seeking a romantic getaway as a couple, or looking for a solo adventure, Turks and Caicos has something for everyone.
Turks and Caicos is especially known for its gorgeous beaches, especially the three-mile Grace Bay Beach, which is regularly named to the list of the most beautiful beaches in the world. But if you don't want to spend your whole vacation lying on the sand, there are plenty of other things to do as well including horseback riding, Jeep tours and watersports like snorkeling, diving, kayaking, sport fishing and windsurfing.
February is the best month for humpback whale watching in Turks and Caicos. Big Blue Collective operates whale-watching charters out of Providenciales, and if you get lucky you may be able to snorkel with the humpbacks.
One of the highlights of Providenciales is Chalk Sound National Park, which has stunningly turquoise water. You can kayak or paddle-board while you check out local residents like sea turtles and iguanas.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
by Fernanda from Mauka Travels
If you are looking for a unique experience, traveling to Rio de Janeiro during the month of February definitely makes the list.
Since Brazil is located in the southern hemisphere, February is one of the peak months of the summer season in Rio. The weather is quite hot and humid, but this means it is also the best season to enjoy the incredible Carioca beaches.
Rio has a lot of incredible beaches. Two of the most famous ones are Ipanema and Copacabana, and it is where most of the tourists stay. Comparing Copacabana to Ipanema, the first one is more touristic, but they are both great and offer a lot of activities like volleyball, stand-up paddle, beach tennis, etc. If you would like to explore the more local side of Rio, you can also visit Barra da Tijuca, and the further beaches of Prainha and Grumari, well-known as good surfer spots.
What makes Rio so special during the month of February is that it is Carnival season. The specific date Carnival is celebrated varies every year depending on Easter, but in the majority of cases, it will fall between February and the first week of March. Carnival in Rio is a very big deal. The official event lasts an entire week, but the preparation for the main event happens throughout the entire month preceding it.
This means that even if Carnival falls in March, there will be a lot of events and things happening in the city throughout the entire month of February – but especially during the weekends.
As you can imagine, Rio de Janeiro gets quite busy this time of year. Lots of people come from other corners of the country and from abroad to experience Carnival in Rio. If you are not a fan of crowds, the best thing to do is book your trip for the preceding weeks of the month. If you are a fan of crowds, you will enjoy the city during the official Carnival week.
Florianopolis, Brazil
by Chanelle from Chasing Chanelle
With its huge coastline and warm weather, it’s no surprise that Brazil has plenty of spectacular beaches. In particular, the island of Florianopolis is one of Brazil’s most beautiful beach destinations and is an ideal place to visit in February.
Located in southern Brazil, Florianopolis is both a 33-mile-long island and the capital of the State of Santa Catarina. Connected to the mainland by a bridge, and with its own international airport, it's easily accessible from other popular destinations in South America, like Iguazu Falls, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires.
Although it’s technically a city, and there is an urban downtown core, most of the island comprises pristine beaches, untouched forests, waterfront resorts and quaint neighbourhoods. In fact, there are over 40 different beaches on the island, including surfing hotspots, family-friendly beaches and secluded coves.
February is the best time to visit Florianopolis as it’s the height of the summer season when the island truly comes alive with ideal beach weather, tons of activities, and a vibrant atmosphere.
There’s something for everyone here including water sports, sandboarding, paragliding, hiking, historic sites, museums, art and culture. Or, if you prefer to unwind on the beach, you won’t struggle to find a sun lounger to rent and a caipirinha to sip on in the sun!
Plus, February is when Brazil’s famous Carnival takes place, and Florianopolis does not disappoint with celebrations across the island, including parades, street parties and private events.
However, it’s worth noting that summer is the wet season in Brazil, so you should expect some rain or thunderstorms. But, overall, February typically has the best weather all year in Florianopolis, with daytime averages around 77 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit and plenty of sun.
And, as February is the prime tourist season, all the visitors add to the atmosphere, as everyone comes together to enjoy the warm weather and beautiful beaches. Or, if you prefer to escape the crowds, with so many beaches to choose from, you can easily find more secluded spots to enjoy some peace and quiet.
Puerto Escondido, Mexico
by Annie from Your Friend the Nomad
Escape to Mexico’s breathtaking Oaxacan Coast and visit Puerto Escondido. This surf town boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico, delicious Oaxacan food, affordable prices, a slow pace of life, and perfect sunny days in February.
The winter months are the most popular times to visit Puerto Escondido. You can expect clear skies and temperatures ranging from 73-84 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the month of February. Yet despite Mexico’s popularity in the winter, there are fewer crowds in Puerto Escondido than in more touristy spots like Cabo and Cancun.
Puerto Escondido has long been a Mexico hidden gem known amongst backpackers and expats, but over the past few years, more and more savvy vacationers have discovered it. Despite its growing popularity, Puerto Escondido still feels like a real Mexican city, but with plenty of incredible things to do as a visitor.
The perfect Puerto Escondido itinerary includes a mix of relaxing beach days at Puerto Escondido’s many gorgeous beaches, surf lessons, dolphin-watching tours in the Pacific Ocean, yoga on the beach, and plenty of flavorful food.
Puerto Escondido is also an excellent base to explore other parts of the Oaxacan coast on day trips to sleepy Mazunte and Zipolite, the secluded beaches and lagoons at Chacahua National Park, and the bioluminescent bay of Laguna de Manialtepec.
The easiest way to get to Puerto Escondido is to fly to the city’s international airport. It is worth noting that almost all Puerto Escondido flights include a layover in Mexico City. You can either opt for a short layover, or an extended layover with a day or two to explore Mexico’s charming capital city. The latter is certainly worth doing if you love Mexican food and culture.

Cabo San Lucas is the perfect beach destination to visit in February! Cabo is located at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula and is a favorite travel destination on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
One of the most popular beaches in Cabo is El Medano Beach. It’s the easiest to get to from the marina, and it’s lined with resorts and restaurants so there is always something going on here! Buy a souvenir from a local vendor, go for a swim, take a ride on a jet ski, or just soak up the sun. El Medano Beach is a nice long sandy beach, so if you love a long walk in the surf, this is the beach for you.
For a quieter alternative, check out the pristine beauty of Lovers Beach. It’s nestled in between Cabo’s iconic rock formations of Land’s End and is only accessible by water. The easiest way to get there is by water taxi. It’s perfect for swimming or snorkeling, but note there are no facilities out on Lovers Beach – so plan accordingly.
There are many fun ways to spend a day in Cabo – from sailing to horseback rides along the beach. Some of the most popular Cabo San Lucas tours are whale-watching excursions. Whale season extends from mid-December through mid-April, but February is one of the peak times to see these majestic creatures.
Cabo San Lucas can get pretty toasty in the summer, but the temperatures in February are perfect, with highs around 81°F and lows around 61°F. These amazing temperatures mean that you’ll be in good company – lots of folks will have the idea to escape the cold to enjoy the sunny beaches of Mexico!
And, no matter which Cabo beach you choose to relax on. you’ll be treated to a phenomenal sunset over the Pacific Ocean!
La Paz, Mexico
by Lucy and Dan from Thoroughly Travel
Featuring year-round pleasant weather, La Paz is the lively capital of the Baja California Sur peninsula. Nestled in a large bay in the west of Mexico, La Paz is a charming beach town and a popular vacation destination. February is the perfect time to visit as it is the tail end of peak season, meaning prices are lower and crowds are fewer.
La Paz is well known for its many sprawling beaches including the nearby Balandra Beach, also known as Mexico's beautiful beach. Featuring golden sand and cacti-covered mountains, Balandra Beach is actually home to seven beaches and low tide gives way to long sandbanks which you can wade out to. La Ventana Beach is popular for water sports and is a favourite for windsurfers due to consistent winds. While El Tecolote Beach boasts coastal hikes with panoramic views.
La Paz is particularly great to visit in February as this is the peak of whale-watching season. Migratory whale sharks, the largest fish in the world, can be found in the waters off La Paz between October and May. It's possible to swim with whale sharks by taking a licensed tour. Swimming with sea lions is also a popular activity and can be done on two islands, San Rafaelito and Espíritu Santo.
La Paz itself is home to a charming old town with colonial architecture and interesting museums. The oceanfront malecón is dotted with sculptures made by local artists and is a great place to walk or cycle. The city centre is easily accessible from La Paz International Airport. The journey from other popular Baja destinations, including Los Cabos which also has an international airport, is roughly 2 hours by car.

Zanzibar, Tanzania

February is a spectacular time to visit Jambiani Beach in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The weather is blissful - warm and sunny, with temperatures ranging from 75°F to 85°F. The beach is quieter during this time of the year too, making it the ideal time for those who prefer a peaceful and relaxing vacation away from the crowds.
Jambiani is the low-key cousin to the more touristy Kendwa and Nungwi Beaches on the northern shores. Here you can still see fishermen bringing in the early morning catch, and local children playing in the sand.
Until the Lighthouse Festival. This is a top reason to head to Jambiani Beach in February. The much anticipated annual festival is a week-long celebration. This collaborative project transforms the area with small parties at stunning locales in the area.
You’ll get to listen to amazing international music against the insanely beautiful backdrop of one of Zanzibar’s best beaches. Musical guests include acts like Alex Ranerro, an electronic music artist from Slovenia, French singer and songwriter Alice, and Ras Moses, the Jamaican reggae singer and songwriter from Colorado, US.
You can immerse yourself in local culture and multinational sounds. Enjoy live music, and festival vibes, and meet people from across the globe. If it’s your first time in Zanzibar, it’s the perfect introduction. If not, it will be a side of the island that you’ve never seen before.
Jambiani in February is also an idyllic spot for beach activities like kite surfing, snorkeling, and diving. You can even venture to the nearby Jozani Forest Reserve, home to the endangered red colobus monkey.
Jambiani, with its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, becomes an irresistible destination in February. And if you’re a music lover, it doesn’t get any better. Happy beaching!
Cape Town, South Africa
by Roxanne from Faraway Worlds
Cape Town is one of South Africa’s most beautiful and vibrant cities, and February is an ideal time to visit. The warm weather and clear skies make it an excellent time to spend a few days in Cape Town. February is the height of summer in South Africa, with long days and comfortable temperatures, perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, visiting vineyards, and heading to the city’s stunning beaches.
Cape Town is surrounded by many beautiful beaches, and several are suitable for swimming. Highlights are Clifton and Camps Bay, with calm waters and sheltered coves, although the cold waters are only tempting on the hottest days. For warmer waters, head to Muizenberg, famous for its surf, or Boulders Beach, where you can watch African penguins playing in the water.
February is also less crowded compared to the peak tourist season around December and January, and local school holidays have ended. It’s a great time to see the colourful Bo-Kaap neighborhood and the V&A Waterfront at their best in sunny weather.
You can also go up the iconic Table Mountain, take a ferry to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years, and wander through the expansive Kirstenbosch Gardens, with markedly fewer crowds. The Cape Point Nature Reserve is also lovely at this time of year, and it’s well worth taking a day trip to nearby wine farms to see another side of the area and try some local wine.
If you enjoy art, the Cape Town Art Fair is usually held in February, showcasing contemporary art from Africa and beyond. This annual fair features artworks from leading galleries and offers a platform for artists and art lovers to engage with each other. It’s a wonderful way to see the rich diversity and creativity of the African art scene.

Europe
Algarve, Portugal
Recommended by Monica from Digital Roamads
Portugal’s Algarve is one of Europe’s sunniest areas, receiving over 300 days of sunshine each year. Visiting the beaches of this stunning coast in February offers a more tranquil and off-peak experience compared to the bustling summer months when the beaches can be absolutely overrun with tourists. Here are some key things to consider:
Mild Winter Climate: While February is winter in Portugal, the Algarve region enjoys a relatively mild climate. Daytime temperatures can range from cool to mild, with highs around 61 degrees, making it a comfortable time to explore the many beaches. Be prepared for variable weather conditions. Bring layers and a light jacket for cooler evenings.
Scenic Beauty: The Algarve coastline is known for its stunning cliffs, rock formations, and golden sandy beaches. In February, the landscape may be adorned with lush greenery, and the contrast of the cliffs against the Atlantic Ocean is particularly striking.
Coastal Walks: The mild weather makes February ideal for coastal walks along the scenic trails that hug the cliffs, particularly the Algar Seco in Carvoeiro or the Ponta da Piedade in Lagos. This is an excellent way to explore the diverse landscapes and enjoy breathtaking views.
Cafes and Restaurants: While you can still find cozy cafes and restaurants in towns serving delicious local cuisine, some beachfront establishments may have reduced hours or be closed for the season. For this reason, it is best to stay around larger, less seasonal cities such as Albufeira or our favorite, Lagos.
Sunset Views: Enjoy the spectacular sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean. The winter sky often provides some drama over the gorgeous coastline, creating a stunning and picturesque atmosphere.
In summary, visiting the Algarve’s beaches in February offers a peaceful and authentic experience, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty and cultural charm of the region without the crowds of the summer season. Whether you're interested in coastal hikes or simply unwinding by the seaside, you will not be disappointed.
Psst: BRB has some Portugal content waiting for you!
Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain
by Carrie from The Daydream Drifters
The Canary Islands are one of the best places in Europe to visit during the month of February if you’re looking for sun, perfect temperatures, and beach days! There are 7 main Canary Islands, but I’m going to focus on Tenerife because it’s the island with the most to do and the best weather.
Tenerife is known as one of the greatest beach destinations in Europe year-round. The weather in the south of the island is warm enough to go swimming any time, it almost never rains, the beaches are gorgeous, the food and sangria are to die for, and the Canarian people are so kind… I could go on and on. February is the perfect time to visit Tenerife because it also happens to be Carnaval (the most important one in Europe and the second most important in the world). It is SO much fun! At night everyone wears costumes and it’s a big party in the street.
I recommend staying in the south of the island, due to the stunning beaches and the weather, but if you’re interested in visiting Carnaval you can stay in Santa Cruz (the capital city) for a night or two.
I’ve been living in the south of Tenerife for 4 years and here are some top tips for your visit:
Best beaches:
Playa Diego Hernandez & El Puertito
Playa El Duque, Costa Adeje
Playa Las Vistas, Los Cristianos (spend the day at Casa Playa Beach Club)
Playa El Camisón, Playa de las Americas
Where to stay:
There’s no shortage of places to stay in the south of Tenerife. You can find anything from basic Airbnb’s to 5-star all-inclusive hotels at a good price. These are the top 3 hotels I’d stay at (if I didn’t live here) .
The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama $$$
Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife $$$
Royal River Luxury Hotel $$$$
Tenerife, Spain
by Karen from Outdoor Adventure Sampler
The lovely island of Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands is a fantastic destination for a beach vacation in February. The island has many gorgeous beaches, fancy resorts, and natural beauty. The scorching weather of the summer is gone. Instead, February brings milder temperatures and abundant sun that make water sports and beach time quite pleasant.
Beaches on the south part of the island are famous for white sand and calm conditions for swimming. Playa de las Vistas in Los Cristianos is a family-friendly beach where parents can watch their kids safely splash in the waves.
Playa del Duque in Costa Adeje is the classic resort beach with sun loungers, umbrellas, and beach huts. Popular restaurants dot the beach and those looking for nightlife will find it nearby. Playa Amarilla, also on the south shore, is an excellent place for snorkeling and diving as the calm crystal clear water is teeming with marine life. The brilliant yellow of the sandstone walls surrounding the beach gives it its name.
La Arenita Beach in Palm-Mar is a perfect place to kayak and snorkel to see the turtles of Tenerife. Kayaking companies will take you from this beach to see the turtles and dolphins in the wild. On the north side of the island, surfing beaches are prominent. Playa Jardin in Puerto de la Cruz not only has great surfing conditions, but the botanical garden built around it is gorgeous.
Besides visiting the beaches, Tenerife has many natural and cultural attractions. Hiking on Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain, is spectacular in February. Also, a visit to the charming mountain village of Masca is awe-inspiring.
February is a popular time to visit Tenerife so make sure to book early.
Oceania
Moorea, French Polynesia
by Monica from This Rare Earth
Moorea, French Polynesia is undoubtedly one of the best travel destinations for anyone seeking an idyllic beach getaway in February. Situated in the South Pacific, this island is remote and features some of the bluest water around.
With pleasantly mild temperatures averaging 83°F throughout the month, the weather is perfect for swimming and snorkeling in Moorea’s clear, turquoise waters. The island's many motus and lagoons are some of the best snorkeling spots in the world, where visitors can observe diverse marine life ranging from colorful tropical fish to manta rays and reef sharks.
Some popular snorkeling destinations in Moorea include the Lagoonarium, Motu Tiahura, and Opunohu Bay. Depending on the chosen location, visitors can see a wide range of coral and fish, including butterflyfish, parrotfish, and triggerfish.
Since February is considered to be the slow season in Moorea, there is less crowding on the island and more time to relax in peaceful surroundings. Visitors can explore the island's lush mountainous terrain by hiking, biking, or on an ATV adventure. Not to mention, Moorea's popular attractions like the Tiki Village and the Belvedere lookout point are well worth a visit.
While visitors may experience a bit of rain in February, it typically comes in short bursts, leaving much of the day covered in golden sun and lush greenery. And, you can’t visit Moorea without sampling the delicious Polynesian cuisine at local restaurants.
There's no question that Moorea is one of the best destinations to consider when planning a beach-filled vacation in the month of February.
Asia
Koh Kood, Thailand
Written by Louisa Smith of Travel Thailand Together
Those looking for a more off-the-beaten-path beach destination to visit in February should consider the far-flung island of Koh Kood in Thailand. Located in the Trang Islands, located in the Southeast of Thailand near the borders with Cambodia, Koh Kood is the furthest island of the group but is undoubtedly worth the journey. It’s a small, quaint island with pure white beaches, bright blue waters, and a serene and enchanting atmosphere.
While Thailand has many islands with beautiful beaches, the beaches on Koh Kood are some of the most unspoiled and beautiful in the country - even more so than its neighboring Koh Mak and Koh Chang. Surrounded by lush jungles and backed by quaint, family-run resorts, Koh Kood is a paradise island for those who want to escape the crowds.
February can be one of the busiest times of year to visit Thailand, as it nears the end of its busy tourist season. Islands such as Phuket, Koh Samui, and Koh Lanta can be overcrowded and lose their authentic charm. Because Koh Kood is remote and has only a handful of ATMs and no 7-Eleven, it’s less visited by travelers and never loses its appeal. You'll have the opportunity to explore the island's hidden gems without the crowds, making your experience more private and intimate.
The weather in February is pleasantly warm, around 26°C-31°C, with only a small chance of rain, so you can truly escape the harsh winters in the northern hemisphere by taking a trip to Thailand. Whether you're seeking relaxation or simply a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Koh Kood is the ideal escape.
Hua Hin, Thailand
by Marya from The BeauTraveler
Hua Hin may not be the first beach destination that comes to mind in Thailand. However, the coastal city offers a combination of great weather conditions, along with cultural richness and recreational opportunities if you visit Hua Hin in February.
February is one of the best months to visit Thailand, as it's a shoulder season where you can enjoy hanging out around the beach rain-free with comfortable temperatures compared to the later months. Nonetheless, this makes it an ideal time for beach activities, whether you enjoy water sports or just need a beach getaway to relax.
While the coastal city is always full of tourists, February isn't the peak season for visitors so you can expect fewer crowds that could maximize your chance to enjoy the beach and attractions with more tranquillity.
The location and accessibility are also the other reasons why Hua Hin is worth visiting, as the city is only a few hours away from Bangkok. You can travel to Hua Hin from Bangkok by bus or train, making it a convenient destination if you want a short beach getaway from the capital city of Thailand.
If you're lucky, you can also immerse in the city's cultural diversity and celebrate Chinese New Year if it falls in February. Although the celebration in Thailand isn't as big as those in the neighboring countries like Laos and Vietnam, you can immerse in the festivities at Phokingpet Public Park to see various performances as a part of the celebration.
Looking for a romantic getaway for Valentine's Day in Asia? Hua Hin is a great choice for couples to celebrate the day of love. Book accommodation at one of the hotels with direct access to the beach so you can reserve a dinner table by the sea with your loved one!
Koh Adang, Thailand
by Dotti from Travel Oasis
Koh Adang in Southern Thailand is an incredible beach destination in February. This little-known island in the south Andaman Sea near Malaysia is a little piece of paradise. The island has exceptional white sand beaches, excellent coral and marine life and very few visitors, making it the picture postcard example of a deserted tropical island. If you’re looking to explore the island by foot, there are a couple of nice hikes to do as well. You can trek through the jungle to a stunning (but cold) waterfall, or to a viewpoint of Koh Lipe in the distance.
In February, the weather on Koh Adang is perfect. February falls within Thailand’s dry season, so during this time, the days are warm and clear and the sea is perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
There is only one place to stay on Koh Adang: the Adang Island Resort. The resort is secluded and private and you’ll probably never want to leave. This 3-star resort features a private beach, an ocean-view swimming pool, a fantastic restaurant and lots of water gear like kayaks, snorkels and SUPs. The water surrounding the island is great to explore and play in. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can visit the remainder of the island, which is a national park. There’s no development on this side, so visit as a day trip or bring your own camping gear.
As very few people know about Koh Adang, you’ll never have to worry about crowds and will only have to share this hidden gem with a handful of other people. Sound perfect? It is!

What could be better than a visit to the beach in Thailand in February? Thailand is at its best in February with dry weather and no rainfall and offers some of the most pristine beaches in the world!
Krabi is one of Thailand's most beautiful provinces with stunning beaches such as Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi or Long Beach on Koh Lanta.
But one of the most beautiful beaches in Krabi and in the whole of Thailand is definitely Railey Beach. It's just a short longtail boat ride from Ao Nang and is the beach you've been dreaming of. Railay Beach is characterised by its famous stunning limestone formations, powdery white sand and crystal clear waters.
The best thing about Railay is that it's more than just a pretty face. There's plenty to do and it's a perfect place to stay for a few days. Railay is a paradise for rock climbers of all levels and the stunning Phra Nang Cave Beach nearby is famous for its cave shrine and vibrant coral. Antalya, Turkey
Written by Louisa Smith of The Turkey Traveler
When it comes to finding a beach destination in February that’s close to Europe, you may want to cast your eyes towards Turkey’s Turquoise Coast. The Antalya region, located in Southeast Turkey, is famous for its stunning beaches and historical landmarks, making it the perfect destination on Turkey's Mediterranean coast to visit if it’s too difficult to fly to tropical countries.
While it’s most popular during the summer months, February unveils a different side of this coastal paradise. Antalya rarely gets super cold in February, and temperatures fall around a mild 15ºC on average, which may be too cold to lie on a beach, but not too cold to go diving or enjoy the many watersport activities you can do here.
In the summer, Antalya’s beaches are packed with people and it can be hard to find a spot to lay your towel down, but in February it’s relatively quiet in terms of tourism, allowing visitors to experience a more tranquil atmosphere that is perfect for relaxation.
Lara Beach and Konyaalti Beach are two of the most popular choices, both offering stretches of golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Lara Beach also has a year-round Sand Sculpture Museum, Sandland, which is one of the largest sand sculpture parks in the world.
Aside from the beaches, Antalya is a cool city to visit. It has many historical attractions, such as the Old Town of Kaleici, which is marked by the ruins of an ancient Roman gate, Hadrian's Gate. Just outside the city is the Ancient City of Perge, an archaeological site comprised of ancient Roman ruins, which is worth checking out. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to relax on a beach or you just want to feel the cool sea breeze, Antalya is a coastal haven.
Boracay, Philippines
Recommended by Mary of Two Week Traveller
February is one of the best seasons to visit the top beach destination in the Philippines - Boracay. During this month, the weather is perfect. It's cool and drier than usual, with very little chance of rain. You can avoid the high humidity and scorching heat that the Philippines is known for.
It's Valentine's Day month, which is a popular holiday in the country. It is busy for a few days on or before February 14th, and the prices are a little higher. But for the rest of the month, you can expect fewer people and prices at reasonable rates. On the other hand, if you're travelling there to spend time with your significant other, Boracay is easily one of the most romantic places in the Philippines. You can arrange a sunset cruise or go on a private sailing for the two of you.
If you have 2 weeks in the Philippines, you can plan to spend 3-4 days in Boracay and have enough time to do many activities. Things you can do during your visit here include snorkelling, diving, boat tours, jet skiing, and parasailing, or simply get your tan on and enjoy the fine white sandy beaches. For those looking to get their diving license, you can sign up for a course here for more affordable prices than in Europe or North America.
If you enjoy the crowd, stay in the area of Stations 1, 2, and 3. You can get a more serene vibe in the Newcoast Beach area, where many high-end resorts are located. Across Station 2, Bulabog Beach is also much quieter and known as the spot for kite surfing. There are lessons you can take, or simply rent the kit if you're experienced.
Getting to Boracay can be a bit of a challenge since you need to fly from Manila and then take a 15-minute boat ride. Once you get on the island, you can either book a transfer service to your hotel or hire one of the e-trike (similar to tuk-tuk) from the ferry terminal.

Sri Lanka
by Katie from Trekking the Dream
Sri Lanka boasts some of the best beaches in the world, and February brings consistently good weather, averaging around 28°C. The warm, crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean are home to an incredible array of wildlife. It is possible to spot turtles, dolphins and even Blue Whales on the beaches.
For those looking to snorkel, the beaches along the southern tip of the Island are particularly good for shallow corals, with plenty of colourful fish and even black-tip reef sharks. There are also many Turtle Sanctuaries along the Southeast coast where you can watch the young hatchlings make their way to the sea.
Surfers are spoilt for choice, and depending on your ability, you can choose from mellow but consistent waves at Weligama to the powerful break at Hiriketiya Bay and everything in between! You can learn to surf on most of the popular beaches and the Surf Schools are generally very good value for money. You can, of course, choose to relax, and there are plenty of beaches along the 1,340km coast where you can kick back and enjoy the sun.
The less-developed East Coast offers the opportunity to discover hidden gems, and, in some places, it is not unusual to find yourself as the only one on the beach. Remember that it can be a little wet in the East in February, but no less special! Costa Rica celebrates its Independence Day on the 4th of February. The main events focus on Colombo, flag hoisting ceremonies, parades, dances, and special performances happen all over the island.
While February is in peak season, it is generally not crowded outside of the main cities. However, it is recommended that you plan accommodations and activities to make sure you get the most from your time on this incredible island.

If you feel like treating yourself, private beaches at places like Jumeirah Zabeel Saray or Royal Atlantis, are a bit of luxury, with comfy sun loungers and top-notch service. Otherwise, head for stylish beach clubs like Nikki Beach, or DRIFT if you feel like having a beach party.
Moreover, February is a month when there are lots of things happening around the city. Thus, make sure to add a few extra days to your Dubai itinerary just to enjoy some of the events, such as the Dubai Food Festival, Chinese New Year celebration, Dubai Jazz Festival or a fancy Yacht Show. Don't forget Valentine's Day. Hence if you are travelling around that time, it is a good idea to book your stay in advance.
Bali, Indonesia
by Laynie from WanderLayn
With stunning white sand and crystal blue waters lining the coast of Bali, February is the perfect time to visit all of the best beaches that this little island has to offer. February is the wet season in Bali, so the weather is typically hot and humid. You should plan on rain during the night and occasionally quick showers during the day, but don’t let the rainy season deter you- this is a great time to visit!
Not only is it much more affordable to explore Bali during the off-season, but you’ll find little to no crowds allowing for full relaxation along the sands. The best beaches in Bali include Padang Padang Beach (Uluwatu), Virgin Beach (East Bali), Kelingking Beach (Nusa Penida), and Broken Beach (Nusa Penida).
While basking at the Balinese beaches, it’s important to explore responsibly to preserve the beautiful nature of the island. You can find more tips on sustainable travel through this Sustainable Bali Travel Guide for all you need to know to make your Bali trip eco-friendly.
Along with the diverse array of beautiful beaches to explore in Bali, it’s also one of the best surf spots in the world for every level of surfer. Beginner surfers should head to the Seminyak or Canggu area, where Kuta Beach and Batu Bolong Beach are the best spots for hitting the waves. These spots are typically much more crowded during the dry season, so you’ll also find that learning is stress-free during February.
You can also find more challenging waves and bumping beach clubs along the cliffs of Uluwatu, with the best spots being Padang Padang Beach and Suluban Beach.
Sentosa, Singapore
by Zhen from A Love Letter to Asia
When most of the world is freezing over in February, Sentosa, Singapore remains sunny, making it one of the best beach destinations to visit and a must-include item on any Singapore itinerary It’s an easy ride from Singapore, whether you travel by car, bus, bicycle, cable car, or even walk!
Like mainland Singapore, Sentosa has no real seasons: it is hot and humid all year round, with the only variable being the amount of rain the island receives. February is a good month as it’s not as scorching as the summer months of June to August, yet not as wet as November to January. The perfect time to enjoy sunbathing on one of its pristine beaches!
There are three beaches in Singapore, spanning around 2 km (about 1.24 miles): Siloso Beach (the most lively), Palawan Beach (great for families), and Tanjong Beach (for those who want something quieter and more sophisticated.) You can try Stand-up Paddling in the lagoon or enjoy a party at the Tanjong Beach Club over in Southern Sentosa. Siloso Beach, on the other hand, offers more thrills along the lines of flying down a zip line, bungee jumping, indoor skydiving, and water jetpacking. For family fun, head to Palawan Beach, where you can romp around the water playground or participate in an exciting Go Kart race.
For the more physically active, the beaches are relatively safe for good swimmers who make sensible decisions, but preferably not between 9 am to 7 pm as they will be unmanned. (Always follow the markings on the beach, which indicate where it’s safe to swim.)
Last but not least, Harry Potter fans will be delighted to hear that “Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience” will be opening in Sentosa on Feb 3, 2024, after finishing its run in the US and UK. At this outdoor experience inspired by the Forbidden Forest, you can enjoy Butterbeer, encounter unicorns, and even practice casting spells.
